Guardian Angels have been serving the District Of Columbia for 21 years.  We are a familar sight on Metro bus and rails, housing complexes, Adams Morgan, Chinatown and events.

Guardian Angels are trained in CPR/First Aid, self-defense and what to do if we see a crime in progress.  We are partners with MPD and while on patrol we comunicate with MPD dispatch through their radio.   We are trained to make citizens arrest if needed.  [D.C. Official Code 23-582(b) provides that a private person may arrest another who he has probable cause to believe is committing in his presence a felony or any of the offenses listed in D.C. Official Code 23-581 (a)(2) or in aid of a law enforcement officer or special policeman or person authorized by law to make an arrest.  Any person making an arrest under these circumstances must deliver the person arrested to a law enforcement officer without unreasonable delay.]

Guardian Angels provide volunteer services to the community.   We distribute food to the hungry/homeless, speak at elementary, junior high and high school students about the dangers of gangs, drugs, peer pressure and the importance of staying in school.  We also participate in community events, MLK Parade, Unifest, Black Family Reunion, Adams Morgan Day, etc.  Each chapter of Guardian Angels has specific and unique ways in which they provide extra assistance or raise awareness about various issues affecting one’s safety. You can get detailed information on programs provided by the 136 chapters of Guardian Angels around the world by visiting http://www.guardianangels.org/.  These programs hope to raise awareness and education while providing viable solutions or alternatives to issues like internet safety, cyberbullying, self esteem, and gang violence.
